Leaders are not dependent on titles or positions. There is a leader in anyone that accepts the challenge, seeks to grow and tries to improve. You will be practicing leadership for the rest of your life regardless of what position you hold professionally. As such, I would suggest that you invest some time to add to and refine your skills and abilities so you can become the best leader possible.
With that in mind, I’m particularly pleased to introduce to you the Institute’s newest course, Leadership Challenge.
This course is not like the rest of the online courses in our catalog. In fact, it’s a new style entirely in that it’s a book-review course based on a classic book, The Leadership Challenge, written by Jim Kouses and Barry Pozner. For three decades, Kouzes and Posner gathered evidence about what leaders do, creating a practical and straight forward book anchored by real life examples.
We’ve taken the leadership model presented in this time-tested book and worked to create a resource that will help you expand your abilities as a leader. The result is a unique online Institute course that complements our leadership journey programs and/or management classes.
So how should you approach the Leadership Challenge experience? You have two options. Option 1—the fastest—is taking the online Leadership Challenge course without reading the book and without taking the post test. Although the course is a good introduction to the book’s leadership model—and will enable you to receive a certificate of completion—it is important to keep in mind that this is not the most comprehensive approach to your leadership development.
If, however, you want to get the most of this Leadership Challenge experience, I strongly recommend you go with Option 2: Read The Leadership Challenge book and then take the course and the post test. Reading the book will ensure that you are prepared for the post test and do well. Moreover, it will provide you with additional leadership insight, and give you the satisfaction of knowing that you have invested fully in your leadership abilities.
I hope you enjoy this guide for leadership excellence.
Good luck and great reading!
